Which is correct? An Hospital or A Hospital?!

Question: With H words it depends on whether you are from the U.S. or the U.K. People from the U.K. will use "an" for most words beginning with H because they generally don't pronounce the H resulting in the word beginning with a vowel sound. I'm not sure whether "hospital" falls into that category.

However in the U.S. words beginning with H should be pronounced with "a" unless the h is silent, i.e. a hospital, an hour.

The main word I notice the difference on is "historic." People from the U.K. should use "an historic moment" because they don't pronounce the H, people from the U.S. should say "a historic moment" because they do.

A hospital is correct.

A Hospital.

A Hospital

a hospital

A hospital
An hour
An unique event

A hospital.

"An" is only used if the word after it is a vowel. A, E, I, O or U

--edit--

I knew there were exceptions to that rule ... so I Googled it and found this:

http://www.dailywritingtips.com/using-a-...

It's not always before a vowel, but before a vowel sound. That's why it would be "an hour" ... because "hour" sounds like it starts with an "o". And "hospital" starts with the "h" sound, so it would be "a hospital"

A hospital....it is place!!

A Hospital.

"An" is usually placed before things that start with a vowel.

The answer is "a hospital."

I learn this:
if the noun(object or place) starts with a vowel, then it is the word AN

If the noun starts with a consonant, than it is the word/letter A

eg. AN apple
eg. A cow

so the correct way of saying it is A Hospital

I know what you mean. The media says" An historical event."
That's so confusing.
Anyway, the answer to your questions is : a hospital.

A Hospital

A Hospital?

A Hospital

A hospital

A hospital because "an" can be used only before the words starting with letters a,e,i,o,u.
