How do I get my strength back after year of illness?!

Question: I suffered a heart attack 1 year ago and then in November 2007 I had an appendicitis and then had the lower lobe of my right lung removed after lung cancer was found. In Dec. 2007 I developed diverticulitis that was perforated and almost died twice. I cannot get my strength back and I am worried. I want to be myself again but I am tired all of the time and have to sit or lay down. What is wrong with me and will I ever be myself again?

wow - you have been through a lot -

well - I'm sure the drs told you what to watch out for with the divertiulitis - and I'm not sure lots of vegies is the best thing - but that's something you should know about - be patient with yourself - try to rest when you can, try to eat the best you can , and hopefully you will start feeling better -
I've been sick for the past 7 years - but not with such serious stuff - I'm just starting to feel better - you don't say how old you are - when we are older even 40's or 50's we don't heal as fast - try to be good to yourself and when you need to lay down, lay down and don't feel quilty about it - rest can actually help our bodies heal -
exercise - is also important - but maybe talk with your dr first if you haven't already addressed this.
It's hard when you dont feel good all the time - try to be patient with yourself and don't push yourself too hard -
and maybe talk to your dr about the possibilty of being anemic - a possibility with the diverticulitis.
wish you the best.

*********The person who told you to eat lots of vegies is 15 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and probably doesn't have a clue what diverticulitis is***********

I ask ?'s sometimes too - but be careful -

Eat alot of vegies and things with protein and exersice or do yoga and meditate in a beautiful enviroment and swim and stay away from trans fats and things with parcially hygraganated oils and cholestrol be active do a good active hobbie and you will get your strength back all it takes is time be pacient and things will turn around you will be fine good luck
=)

It will be a long time before you get back to normal, it may be so slow that you don't even notice any change but with a good diet rest and good looking after, you should get your strength back. Take each day at a time and never try to push yourself too far or hard.Listen to what your body tells you and this way you will soon be on the road to recovery.

You need physical therapy. It will help you to regain your strength and energy at a pace that is right for you according to your doctor. Talk to your doctor and I am sure he will lead you in the right direction. Good luck to you!

you have been thru alot honey,& the Lord has you here for a reason. have you tried any vitamins yet? when i was tired all the time..i found out that i was Animick. my dr. told me to start taking iron pills. maybe you should be check for that too. Good Luck & hope you get to feeling better
