Question: Are people really getting a new flu this year Even if they got the flu shot?I have heard that there is a new flu out and its not covered by the flu shot.Shouldn't they give us our money back since the shot did no good?It just not fair.

You never get exactly the same flu twice. Flu viruses are always changing, adapting, mutating. This month's flu is changed from what it was last month.
If they never changed then once you recovered from a flu you would never have one again as your immune system would already have the correct antibodies to neutralize it.
Flu vaccines are of questionable value for this same reason. The vaccine is usually made from last-year's flu virus in the hope that it will still be close enough to this year's flu to have some effectiveness. That is why some years they are not effective at all.
It takes several months to develop a vaccine, so by the time they develop one for THIS year's flu, the flu season will be over.
This is just one of the reasons that I never take flu shots, and instead I rely on Chinese medicine to get rid of viruses as soon as they strike (my wife studied it for 3 years and is a certified practitioner).
Other reasons include that there have been problems with contamination of vaccines - they also contain mercury as a preservative, which is not good for you at all!
Chinese medicine has many effective anti-viral remedies that don't give you side effects like the ones developed by western Big Pharma companies do, and they only cost $2 - $4 instead of $hundreds.
If you live in a city that has a Chinese community, go and look for herb shops and ask questions. Ask for pills and don't buy the loose herbs to boil - that is smelly and time consuming and tastes awful and is much more expensive. I would only cook herbs if I had something really serious and hard to get rid of...
It's not a New flu! The gov't entities who decide which flu variety will be most prevalent miscalculated this year!!
It's true that the flu vaccine given this year doesn't cover the variety that is hitting people.
No, I agree that it isn't fair, but that is one of the little facts of life. Mostly life isn't fair either.
I NEVER get the flu shot. The only one I got made me so sick I stayed in bed for 2 weeks. Before that was more than 30 years since I had gotten the flu!! I am not convinced it does any good at all to get the vaccine for this!!
evolution is hard to predict and hard to spot when there are several different types of flu out there(the one vaccinated against is the most dominant strain).
The flu shot only protects people from specific various strains of the flu. It only covers the specific kinds that have been researched and vaccine has been formulated. The only reason they do this research and development for one particular kind of flu is because it is the most prevalant. The researchers and scientist have to cover the kind of flu that is "most likely" for people to get... The shot did do you good if you did not get that particular kind of flu. But, you are right that it is not fair.... Just like its "not fair" that the twin towers got destroyed or its "not fair" that I'm overweight....its just life...
