How does diet help you with diabetes?!

Question: If you have a mild case of diabetes, you may be ale to get it under control and not have to take pills or insulin. I got mine under control this way, and lost a lot of weight with a great diet that the dietician put me on. By eating regularly and having small snacks which included some protein, between meals, I was able to lose weight without sufferring.
For people who have diabetes, and don't control the sugar levels with diet and medicine, things just keep getting worse. People get heart problems. They lose their eye sight. They lose hands and feet etc. The neuropathy caused can cause strange feeligs and pain in your hands arms and feet as well. I've heard constipation is a big negative factor as well. You don't want to consider not doing the diet!!!

it makes your body healther so it can operate diabeties better..

it reduces the risk of you getting sick

controls your sugar cuz u cant have too much or to little or you can go into shock or a comma.........both my parents have it my dad has type 2 and type 1, and my mom has type 1 you definately cant eat to much or to little and you have to exercize but not to intensely and it is very hard to lose any weight because you have to steady your meals all the time, also lowers your blood preasure to good rate and helps fight sicknesses and is a very healthy way to live with it

Eating healthy lowers your blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and allows your liver to metabolize food properly. Losing weight will also reduce the chance of having to use insulin.

A good diet will keep your sugar down and help control the disease. Diet is the most important part of being a diabetic. (beside meds)

Diabetes is:

Body doesn't produce enough insulin to sort circulating sugar

or

Body doesn't produce insulin to tidy up circulating sugars

or

Body is resisting insulin action so blood sugars stay high

If you cut the sugar in your diet--or foods that break down quickly into sugar--you don't need as much insulin to keep sugars normal.

As someone else said: healthy diet helps keep other vital systems in the body in condition: blood pressure, cholesterol, nervous system, yadayada...

Controlling sugar levels is vital for the blood vessels. They're easily damaged by sugar...

You could easily go blind if your sugars remain high for too long...
