New diabetic......?!

Question: I have tried numerous times and i am really afraid of the lancet device. I put it against my skin tight, but the needle didnt even hit the skin...so i just poked it with the lancet....is that okay?? I got plenty enough of blood and it didnt freak me out as much. I think its the clicking noise that bothers me, but Im new at this and was just wondering if its okay if i just didnt use the lid to it.

It's perfectly OK for you to draw blood in this way, but you may find that once you get used to the "clicking noise" that it doesn't hurt as much to do it with the lancing device.

One other thing that you might like to try is to prick your finger(s) on the side, just below the position of your nail. This seems to be a richer source of capillaries so the blood is easier to get to.

Best of luck.

It should have a setting to push the needle out farther. It should be ajustable, for children and people with tougher skin. It's located at the bottom of the needle prick, turn it like a dial to the setting of your desire.

You can adjust the needle depth on the lancing device. Yours probably needs adjusting. It's ok to do it the way you did, as long as you get some blood. I don't have the guts to do it that way.
