Lung/Mucus/Coughing?!

Question: 1 month ago i had a viral infection. I had fever, was coughing, sore throat and was very weak. The doctor prescribed some medicine which I took and a few days later I felt better, a week later or so I stopped coughing. After few days I started to cough again, eliminating white mucus. I don't have a fever I dont feel weak, I just have a running nose which is really annoying. The nazal mucus, at first was yellow. Now it's clear. Every time I take a breath, when my lungs achieve a certain expansion, I feel and hear something like "HRHRHRHR" ( cant find a word to describe it). I believe its the mucus along with air that make that noise. My doctor said it's called tracheo-bronchitis, or something like that. He gave me another type of medicine that's supposed to make the mucus fluid. I took 2 packs but still nothing has changed. It's all white.

Tracheo-bronchitis can arise from an infection (viral or bacterial) or from acute or chronic irritation. Inhaling a noxious gas, for instance can be a cause. In your case, it was both the prior infection and the coughing that irritated the lining of your airways. Think of it as chronically scratching yourself. Eventually, you end up with an irritated piece of skin that always hurts or itches.

Your doctor is trying the first step of treatment - a mucolytant. That's something to liquefy your mucus and make it easier to clear. If that fails, a steroid inhaler may be necessary to calm the inflammation sufficiently to allow the tissues to heal. Talk to your doctor and tell him his first attempt didn't help. If he doesn't hear from you, he won't know and will assume that everything is OK

White sputum doesnt suggestion a purrelent infection, but rather the elimination of mucous.

Nasal drainage will make you cough....it was yellow like a sinnusitis, but has cleared.

Suggest it may be brochitis or an Upper respiratory infection.

Sleep, drink fluids, eat if your hungry.......and wait.
