IS CANCER IN TEENS USUAL OR NO? especially ones that have no family history of i!

Question: I'm a retired cancer specialist MD.
20 years experience in American medicine.
Cancer is NOT common in teens.
The vast majority of my patients were over 50 years of age.
Malignancies can occur in teens, but this is not common.
Your risks from auto accidents and suicide (especially in males) are far greater than cancer.

Cancer is a disease of aging.
It was not one of the top causes of death 100 years ago because the average life expectancy was only 46 years.
Now that people live an average of 77-80 years - - and since smoking became so prevalent in the past century - - we see about the same number of cancer deaths per year per 100,000 population as we saw deaths from tuberculosis in 1907.

no.......

It's not exactly unusual , but having no family history certainly decreases the odds

Cancer comes RANDOMLY. By smoking or doing anything that would lead toward cancer, you will be at a higher chance of getting cancer.

1 in 10 people in American is affected by cancer. It does not discriminate against teens or children

Not usual, or common. Or else you'd see a lot of teens with cancer.

It occurs more as you age, that's when all the family history will or will not come into play.

But no, it's not uaual in teens, but it's a scary, and mysterious disease. :(

it's not that common. but it differs according to the type of cancer. some cancers occur in children but they are much less than adult cancers.
cancers that are common in adults usually occur at younger ages when there's a family history.
