If you are an organ donor, how do you feel about the possibility that?!

Question: your liver for example, may go to a heavy drinker, as opposed to someone who has suffered from a liver condition that wasn't self induced?

A person is still a person. Doesn't matter who you are or where you came from....

who knows that heavy drinker mgiht be so greatful he received the new liver that he quits and helps others quit drinking.....

Who the hell cares? You're dead anyway~!

It is just a chance you are going to have to take. just hope that it goes to someone who really needs it. That is all you can do.

My husband and I are donating our bodys for study. When they are done, they cremate you and send you home. All for nothing. How cool is that?? As for your question, if something from my body can keep anyone alive for a little longer......what the hey. They won't give a person a liver transplant unless they have quit drinking for a certain period of time. And if they start drinking again, oh well. I had a good friend, older than me, he was at the time about 55. He received a heart transplant from a 21 year old male car accident victim. The guys body rejected the heart and he died 2 days later

im not a donor but if i was it wouldn't bother me i don't think

If I'm dead, who cares who gets my liver? I won't be needing it. Another thing to consider is that people have to qualify to be on the organ donation waiting list. I doubt they would give a liver to someone who is still drinking.

If it helps someone else live , then that's the only reason I would donate, regardless of why or how they came to need help

My soul will feel real bad-
that's what you expected!

i'd like it to go to someone needing of it more than a drinker.

If my organ can help that person live then i'd be happy for them to have it. I wouldn't be so happy if that person then abused it and started drinking alcohol again.

Well at least its saving a life so thats what really matters.

I am an organ donor and although I would be a bit apprehensive to give my liver to just anyone, I would hope that if I give my liver to someone who was an alcoholic then, they would realize how fortunate they are and use that to better in the future and stop drinking. Noone is ever beyond hope.

im more concerned if they get one of my limbs thats got a tattoo on it that they wont like my tattoo, or if i get an arm from somebody who is gay and it wont let go when i have a wee

Well, maybe that heavy drinker may turn his life around and have a profound impact on someone else's life.

When I die I'm giving my brain for research purposes.
I think they'll use it as a door stop!

My liver would probably only be any good to a Heavy drinker !?!?
