Sun burn or sun poisoning?!

Question: ok i stupidly went out to tan for a few hours and forgot to put on any sunblock....i now have a sunburn. i have had much worse sunburns as a kid. it hurts but there's no swelling or any crap like that and after about a day or so i can pretty much function without hissing in pain every time i move. HOWEVER i am feeling like a little dizzy and very fatigued and almost like i'm just plain ILL. am i not getting enough water to combat the dehydrative effects of the sunburn or do i have sun poisoning??? let me reiterate that i do NOT have the really bad and painful physical effects that are associated with sun poisoning. just an illness. ugh. it's a nasty feeling. lol. help me!

You're not just dehydrated; your electrolytes are probably out of balance -- likely your potassium and sodium, specifically. Go get some bananas (high in potassium) and some Gatorade and drink that, in addition to taking some aspirin (those will help with the inflammation in the skin related to the sunburn). Also take some Vitamin E and Vitamin C capsules -- those will help speed the repair of the skin. It sounds like you have a "mild" case of sun poisoning and not a "severe" one. If you don't feel better after eating the bananas, drinking the Gatorade, and taking the aspirin, then go to the doctor.

That's about all you can do once your skin is burned. Your body is having to repair the DNA in your skin -- the radiation of the sun dimerizes the thymine nucleotides of the DNA in your skin, which causes the "kinks" in your DNA that lead to cancer. Doesn't sound so sexy now, does it? ;)-

it sounds like dehydration, if the burned area is covered in timy bumps so it feels like you scales, then it's probablym sun poisoning. banana boat makes a good lotion for it.
