Can you speak with a chest tube in?!
Question: A chest tube itself should not stop a patient from being able to speak. A chest tube goes int the lungs to drain fluid or to reinflate the lungs after they collapse. However many patients that require chest tubes have other injuries that require intubation ( atube that goes through their mouth to their lungs that provides an airway for mechanical ventalation- a breathing machine), then a patient would be unable to speak.
