I went skiing and got my face badly sunburnt...?!

Question: So I went skiing yesterday and got pretty badly burn below the eyes and down to my lower neck. It appears that I blistered on my face in two different spots, has anyone had this happen to them and what are the results after the skin has healed? Is it noticeable or does it fade? How do I treat this?

You could have a sunburn from the reflection of the sun against the snow or you might have windburn. Either way, you will still need the same type of treatment. The best thing to use is an aloe vera gel or lotion. The aloe vera will help to heal the burn and soothe it to make it feel better. The lotion will help to keep the area moisturized. Burned skin desperately needs moisture to stay healthy. As for the blisters, be VERY careful to make sure that you don't pop them. Popping a blister is what could potentially cause scarring. If the blister does pop, you will need to add Neosporin or Bacitracin to the mix to help it to heal faster and keep it from becoming infected. This could also help you from getting a scar from a popped blister. The Neosporin and Bacitracin should also be used if your skin starts cracking or scabbing over because it is burned so badly. I used to be an avid skier and this has happened to me before as well. I made it through with no scarring and you can too as long as you do all of these things.

Next time make sure to protect your skin a little better. Use a high SPF on any exposed skin and try to cover as much skin as possible with clothing, especially sensitive skin such as your face. I hope this helps and good luck!

I don't believe that was a sunburn if you were skiing...more like wind burnt

Try some Noxzema or aloe on the burn the blisters will go away and you should not get scars...

I had my neck and forehead blister pretty bad. Get some aloe gel to put on it. Or maybe just some vasoline. I didn't get any scars from it or anything. Just give it time to heal

Use some aloe gel. It will heal.

use aloe. its like gel looking stuff. its really cold when you first put it on but works wonders...
and keep lotion on it. they have this stuff at any local drug store.
good luck! =)

Your face was burned since the sun reflects higher UV rays off of sources such as water or snow, (more glare) it wont last as long as a regular tan and is also partly due to windburn, this wont last long, and if you experience dry skin use moisturizer or wear a neck warmer next time!!
