Will my eyelashes grow back after chemo?!

Question: I lost most of my eyelashes during chemo and I just finished my last cycle of chemo and want to know if my lashes will grow back and if they do will they possibly be thicker or longer?? How long does it take? Do any vitamins help the growing process? I ve heard fish oil pills help with hair growth or quality.

My girlfriend did lose her hair during carboplatin/taxol chemo. Her hair started to fall out 10 days after the first treatment, but her eyelashes and eyebrows fell out or thinned well into the regimen. I think it was by the fifth treatment. She had six rounds over 4 1/2 months. Her hair on her head actually started to grow back during the last two rounds, as her eyelashes and eyebrows fell out. The eyelashes regrew quickly, it was as if you could see the difference each day. They came back without any extra vitamins or pills. Very nice and full. Her eyebrows had only really thinned but they did take a few more weeks than the eyelashes. It was about 2 months after the last chemo that her eyelashes and eyebrows were back substantially.

Hey... dont worry they will definatly grow back... vitamin e is great for hair growth if you want to start taking vitamins... im not sure how long it will take but it shouldnt be to long... good luck with everything!!!

Yes, they will grow back...at least my mother's did. I don't remember how long it took, though.

my doctor told me after the last chemo everything would start coming back.

My little brother is going through chemo right now, and even though he hasn't lost his eyelashes, just his hair and mustache, but it's growing back quite fast, so I don't know why your eyelashes wouldn't.

As for helping with hair growth, pre-natal vitamins help with that, so you could try that.

Good luck and I hope you stay cancer-free.

yes, they will.dont worry! im not sure if fish oil will hasten the process or not-maybe ur dr might know.yes, after chemo, hair can come in different colors and textures than it was before.an asian girl i know had straight hair, after chemo,it was all wavy-she liked it.feel better soon!

your eyelashes and eyebrows, and the hair that was on your body before you lost it will come back. when i went thru chemo it took about 3 months to notice hairgrowth. and it only started growing back after my last cycle of methatrxate. there is a vitamin that u can get at walmart called hair, nails, skin it works to help inspire the hair to come back. also your hair may change textures and colors. things that help your hair growth is a high dose of folic acid, and biotin. give it a try. i think you will be pleased.

I finished chemo and mine grew back, they are the same as they were before I had the chemo. I dont know about the vitamins, you have to talk to you doctor to see if they can react to the meds you are on now, before taking them.
