My acne - Here is my problem.?!

Question: So I have seen a dermatologist.
Tried every acne product, including several antibiotics.
Currently on Clenziderm MD
I go to the Ocean/beach everyday

I have noticed a great improvement. About 75%. However it never fully goes away. So I have this theory, that food can infact be a big cause. So I didnt eat anything for 40 hours, all I drank was water. And I noticed a little bit of change. No white heads in the morning, my skin looked a little clearer than before. As soon as I started eating again, I can see some white heads come up. What do you guys think? Im tired, and I have tried everything, the next step is accutane. I am 18 - Male

Food has little impact on acne, despite many studies trying to establish a connection. Only two dietary links have been associated with acne: sugar intake (which is high in certain breads, cereals, sweets, and other foods), and milk (which can contain hormones). Pizza, chocolate (other than the sugar), french fries, and "greasy" foods have little impact on your skin and acne.

40 hours is not long enough for a pimple to develop, actually; that's not even two full days and nights (although that's a significant time to go without food).

It actually takes about two weeks or more for pimple to start and fully "mature", appearing on the skin --> The androgenic hormones in men and progesterone in women trigger excessive production of sebum, and those who have higher levels of these hormones, more sebaceous glands, or larger pores have acne-prone skin. Sebum en-route to its way to the skin surface picks up dead skin cells and debris as it gets nearer to the surface. Then it goes and blocks the skin pores, clogging the hair follicles. Bacteria then attack the skin when it is clogged by sebum or perspiration. This bacterium, scientifically known as P. acnes, live on your skin and turns into a malicious harmful agent of acne, thriving and growing in the clogged hair follicles.

Clenziderm has been established as an effective treatment for acne, but it is expensive for a benzoyl peroxide medication. You could probably get a benzoyl peroxide prescription product for less money (if you have insurance which only requires a co-pay).

Depending on the severity of your acne, Accutane may be something to consider -- only a dermatologist can advise you for sure, but you would definitely have to limit your beach time (time in sun) while on Accutane. It's the only product that is going to provide long-term results that will last even after after you stop taking it. As a wash, (not for use while on Accutane, though), you should consider SalAc, available from Amazon.com --> it's an excellent wash for acne, and you could use it in conjunction with your Clenziderm MD serum. Good luck!

It will probably clear up in your 20s. Don't worry, lots of people still have acne when they're 18. Your dermatologist is your most reliable source of information though.

There is so much crap in our food, I think that is entirely possible.

If it cleared up a bit when you fasted try omiting Flour based products, ie no bread, cereal, things like that. A lot of people actually do have minor wheat (flour ) allergies. If that dosent work try the next thing you eat/drink the most and work your way from there to see if any trial eleminations help.
You can also go to an allergist and they can test you but you still may not know for certian if that peticular thing is what is causing your break outs.

Clenziderm is a glorified over priced benzoyl peroxide...BUT it does help some people who can afford to spend that kind of $$. The type of food you eat not only plays a part in your skin but in your general heath...I think you should go to www.flirtwithhealth.com and get the daily vitamins for men..those will help A lot in general (I use the women's and have seen a huge difference) secondly IF you are willing to try ONE more thing before the BIG A (Accutane) I believe whole hearted that "unblemish" is the way to go! GREAT acne kit that works miracles...(IMO) you be the judge... you order it on line link below in source or go to www.rodanandfields.com/jamie

PS what kind of sunscreen are you using?? and Accutane makes your skin sensitive to the elements...Be careful in the direct sun at the beack!
