Is this a headache? If so, what kind is it? Feeling nauseous...?!

Question: I always get the feeling of nausea but NOT in my stomach, the nauseous feeling is actually in my head...

I always assumed this is some sort of perhaps visual migrane? As I tend to get them from the sun (almost always! even if I where sunglasses), after watching a professor all day in class, when I'm tired at times, I suppose from contacts and squiting...

Does all of this sound like some sort of headache? What kind? And if not, then why is it I always feel nauseous?

Could be a migraine or cluster HA. Can be one sided behind eye, visual changes sometimes occur, flashing lights, nausea, etc. The best thing to do is the second you feel it starting, go lie down in a dark, quiet room with an ice pack for your head. Also take whatever works for you Ibuprofen (motrin) or Tylenol (Acetamenophen).

If you're having them frequently and not able to control them, you should see your Dr. Keep track of them and see if they happen around your cycle or sporatic.

Squinting can cause headaches if you are over working your eye muscles...Also if you have astigmatisms in your eyse (irregularities, when you are near or far sighted), this can also be an issue. You may want to get your eyes checked. It's hard to get rid of this kind of headache, I get those fairly often. Nauseous feelings can be caused by a lack of equlibrium. Definitely get it checked out. Keep a headache journal and find out when you are having these symptoms, if you are eating before or after it happens, and what time of day they happen. This will help you determine the triggers, therefore helping to determine what you need to do to get rid of the headaches. Good luck!!
