I'm hydrating myself, eating apples, on a diet, acupuncture, etc. but acne w!

Question: For the past 3 months, i've sacrifised a lot. I've given up all sweets, fried foods, sodas (all unhealthy stuff), for fruits, vegetables, water, juice, etc. I'm eating 3-4 apples a day in comparison to one a day or less. I'm drinking around 2L a day of water/water + lemon in comparison to usually no water at all a day. And i've been doing acupuncture for the past 3 months now. As well, after hours of research i've cut down the chemical use on my face, and worked on the proper wasing techniques. Yet, my acne hasn't gone away. Yes, it diminished quite a lot, but its still there, and i'm still breaking out. On average its about 1 blemish every other day i'd say. What am I doing wrong. And please don't answer, use proactive or accutane. I've researched them, and well i've learnt that those are short terms solutions, i'm trying to get rid of my acne naturally, without chemicals, from the inside out. Thnx.

For some people, acne is a "chronic" skin condition which is not "curable" due to their:
1) genetic predisposition
2) larger than average pore size,
3) hair follicles and pores that are not the "normal" shape, making them clog more easily,
4) more numerous and more active sebaceous glands,
5) hormonal influences (only somewhat affected by diet)

Because of these factors, over which no one has any control, we can only target:
- the "clogging" in #3 (with topical treatments and antibiotics),
- the sebaceous gland activity in #4 (with Accutane)
- the hormones in #5 for women (with oral birth control)

Most people only suffer acne during their teens and twenties due to the hormonal fluctuations that occur during this time, causing the sebaceous glands to over-produce sebum. However, because of the other factors, some people deal with acne well beyond those years.

Because of the factors that cause acne, it is not a condition caused by a dietary imbalances, poor hygiene, or a "unnatural disturbance" in the body. Proper hygiene and skin care can help to keep the pores and follicles from becoming clogged and keep them clear, but as you have experienced, it's not a "cure".

What you are doing wrong is by not considering all of the available options: salicylic acid is perfectly natural. It's the same thing as aspirin, which is a natural substance, found in willow tree bark. The fact that a lab synthesizes it instead of chopping down an entire forest to harvest it does not make it "unnatural". Accutane is also derived from Vitamin A. Although it's certainly not for everyone, and your acne doesn't sound severe enough to merit it, the foundation for Accutane comes from nature. Sulfur is also perfectly natural and is a common ingredient in prescription treatments for acne; in fact, sulfur is a pure element found on the periodic table.

You can live your life around your breakouts -- which is what it almost sounds like you are doing -- or you can be more open to other options for treating your acne and use the full arsenal of treatments available to you. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Try to eat all organic foods, ad exercise. Ge plenty of sleep. Try Proactive it really works! So does something called acne free.
