Can you go blind?!

Question: Hello all I have a serious question can you go blind by wearing very scratched/ smudged glasses? I am wondering because I have very scratched glasses and wont get a new pair till the 29th and I'm wondering will I be ok with these severe scratched lenses?
In other words since I have a week to go till I get a new pair will I get some kind of eye damage or should I be good?

I've never heard of blindness, even temporary blindness, caused by scratched & smudged lenses. In fact, if that were the case, I'd have gone blind approximately 5 yrs. ago as mine are plastic and the scratches/smudges are impossible to smooth out on plastic lenses (I'll never recommend those to anyone).

You only have a week to go to the eye doctors, however can you go to them and have them clean and smooth your current lenses for the meantime? My sister had that done quite often and it made a tremendous difference on her lenses, you could barely tell there were any scratches to begin with.

Good luck & be well.

You may get eyestrain, but you won't go blind. Hope you enjoy your new glasses.

i don't think so, you'd go blind maybe with a disease, or if your eye gets poked out it may put stress on your eyes, because your lens will have to adjust in weird ways. Wont make you blind though
just take them off whenever like you don't need them, if you're waiting, or if you're not looking at anything.

You won't go blind.
As long as you don't put the lenses too close to your eyes.
The scratches can transfer on to your irises and corneas.
