Help asap please?!

Question: Ok, well my girlfriend has had mono for 3 weeks. can i get mono if her symtoms have gone away? ok so she just has a sore throat and tiredness. but i may have given her mono without knowing. because i read previously that people can have mono without knowing it. well tommorow is our 1 month anniversary. and i really want to make out with her and give her a good time. but i dont know if i should because of this. but if her symtoms have gone away, then could i still get it? and i also have an abnormal immune system which is like bigger than the average person. im not too conserned about mono. because i might have had it in the past. any help would be so appreciated. thank you all and please dont answer with unnecessary responses.

First Mono is a virus. It can remain active in your system for months. You can continue to shed it for up to a year, even after your symptoms go away. This means that active virus is in your saliva.

The likelihood is that if she's had it this entire time then you have it too. If I were you I would check with my doctor to see if you have dormant mono. It is entirely possible to have it asymptomatically (no symptoms). You should know so that you can avoid passing it to others.

So, can you catch it from her if her symptoms have gone away? Yes. It doesn't sound like her symptoms are gone yet. Sore throat and tired are primary symptoms of mono. Be really careful of her physically because it is possible to injure her while she's ill (spleen damage really does happen). So no wrestling/tickling matches, okay?

Check out the website below for more info.

Hope that helps.

if she's been on meds for 24 hrs, there's a SMALL chance of passing it on, usually they say its not contagious by then. but mono is spread easily by kissing, i'm told. i think you should wait for a while if she's not on medication.

There is a possibility that the viruse still remains even though she is no longer showing no symptoms. If she has not showed symptoms for about 3-7 days it may be alright, but even the smallest amount of the viruse can cause you to become sick. So, if she has showed no symptoms for a while, go ahead.

Hold off a while.. One of the big dangers of mono is the rupturing of the spleen, which could conceivably occur during vigorous sex. For everyone's safety, have a nice dinner & save the celebrating for when she's pronounced well...
