Can a blood test detect pancreatic cancer?!

Question: There is a blood test but it will be negative until you have a significant tumor on the pancreas. CT scan with contrast is the only way to get a positive detection early enough to treat it.

Actually, no. They have to do an MRI first. I had an MRI done of my middle back because I had back problems and that's when they discovered that I had cysists on my pancreas. I then had to go see an internist who had to do an endoscopy which is where they put you to sleep and stick a tube down your esophagus and goes all the way down near your pancreas and they harvested a few cysists and had them biopsied at the Mayo Clinic. Of course, they turned out to be benign. I hope this helps youl.

Blood tests are indicators (like barometers)
of what MIGHT be wrong with a person or
symptomatic of an illness.

They are often misleading (ELISA tests
for BB virus, Lyme) and SED rates are not
purely indicative of inflammatory processes.

An MRI with contrast should give a clear image
of any internal pathogenic mass.
