Question about my one year old beagle?!
Question: My beagle dog will be one next month. He lives outside with his friend the choc. Lab-Bandit. He began coughing now for about three days. My husband says Marvin has kennel cough and will be aright. What is kennel cough? Is it dangerous and how do I treat it? I am so worried. Thank you for your help.

Take your dog to the vet. Three days of coughing concerns me. Are there other symptoms present? Runny nose and fever? Is he eating well? If he has no other symptoms and he has a good appetite, he should be fine in another 3-4 days. If there are other symptoms, he could have a more serious case or it could be another infection. I'd take him to the vet just in case.
They do have a vaccine to prevent this disease, which you may want to consider since he spends alot of time with another dog.
kennel cough is a virus,you cant do much right now.There is a vaccine available,but most likely its too late by now and the Labrador also going to catch it.Maybe wet his food with warm water, that helps.If you take them for walkies,use a harness instead of a collar.I had a dog who got kennel cough, and he coughed for a couple of weeks,recovered without any meds.
I adopted a dog from the humane society and it had kennel cough, they told me I could give him pediatric robitussin. It worked!
