First, off, what a horrible doctor for giving the wrong diagnosis! That is why doctors should culture things instead of just assuming. Impetigo is a serious condition! Did they take a swab of the rash the second time? Are they POSITIVE it is impetigo based on lab results?

If so, the doctor most likely put her on Amoxicillin, Augmentin, Penicillin, or something that ends in "cillin". If this is the case, the pimple-like rash she has on her is an indicator she is allergic to penicillin. You will need to get to the doctor and change antibiotics. A rash is the very "best" thing that can happen with a drug allergy. Anaphylaxis could occur! Even if she wasn't put on a drug in the penicillin family, which is a common drug allergy, she could still be allergic to whatever they put her on. If I were you, I would stop the medication, since you are going back to the doc tomorrow.

So! Get back to the doc yet again (sorry). That is good you are going tomorrow. It is either one of two things: 1. They are wrong yet again in their diagnosis. 2. She has a drug allergy.

Good luck and take care!
