Hypoglycemia or...?!

Question: I have a little question for those who might know more about these things than me. I tend to get very hostile and moody, snappy and just plain outright rude when I haven't eaten for a while. Over little things. Over nothing. The difference in how I behave is "wow". I'm normally very calm and pleasant and then snap over every little thing when I start to feel hungry at all. Then once I have something to eat, I feel fine again and whatever it was that was irritating me doesn't seem to bother me at all. Its to a point where if I start getting pissy my friends direct me to eat something. A couple of them suggested I might be hypoglycemic. I looked up the definition and I'm not certain about it. I'm not a diabetic. I don't take insulin. I'm perfectly healthy. I'm pretty sure. Is there something else besides hypoglycemia that causes mood swings when you haven't eaten?
