Question: Does it change the color of you urine like regular AZO pills? Has anyone who has recurrent UTIs tried this? Is it effective with preventing recurrent UTIs?

I found that you do not always require antibiotics to clear up a UTI... in fact you should try to avoid allowing the infection to progress to that point, because overuse of antibiotics is a really bad idea. This can cause your infections to become more resilient in the long run and harder to treat. You need to be careful, though, because waiting too long to do something can lead to permanent damage.

In my experience, if you catch the infection when you first start to feel the symptoms (the pain and frequency urinating, ect.) you need to immediately begin treating it yourself by drinking LOTS of water, cranberry juice, and taking what you called the "regular AZO pills." I would also take a day off of work or school to give yourself plenty of time to drink all you can, rest, and use the bathroom constantly.

Keep in mind, though, that there is nothing in the original AZO pills that actually treats the infection, it is only designed to dull the pain it causes. It will be the cranberry juice and water that flushes your system and rids you of the infection. I find that if I don't get rid of a UTI with this method within a couple of days, the infection usually becomes severe enough that it requires antibiotics.

With all that said, the AZO cranberry pills will probably help to prevent infections if you take them regularly. They might help keep e. coli bacteria, the most common cause of UTIs, from hanging out in your system. They are like a vitamin; they won't help you if you develop a bad infection, but they may help keep your system healthy if taken preventatively. I do not think they should change the color of your urine. I would definately try them if you are having this problem, but also do some reading and see if you can find anything other than a genetic predisposition that is causing this.

Good luck and I hope you feel better! I know how miserable it is.

Yes I get frequent UTI and used this recently, I was in a lot of pain and had to go to the bathroom like every second. It didn't work at all, the only way to cure an UTI is to go to a doctor and get an antibitioc to clear it up, I made the mistake of waiting long and I had to go to the emergency rooms because it got so bad my kindneys shut failed for awhile. So Please go see a doctor, I wouldn't want the same to happen to you. and the antibitioc was ciproflexin and it worked wonders for my bleeding and urge to go to the bathroom. And azo will change your urine to a yellow-orange color. Good luck.
