Is it dangerous when moles become larger and darker?!

Question: I have this mole on my back that has become larger and larger. It has also become darker than what it used to look like. Now it's close to black in colour. I just wonder if this is something dangerous. I never expose myself to the sun, so I don't know why I'm experiencing this. I also have several other moles all over my body, but the one on my back, in particular, is the one thay worries me the most. What could it be? Would it be necessary to pay a visit to the dermatologist?

I would definately go get it checked out. If you have that many moles, you must go get a full body skin exam so the doctor can monitor your moles, or possibly take a biopsy of that big mole on your back. Don't take your chances, go get yourself checked out! It's recommended to get this full body skin exam at least once a year.

yes they will destroy your garden

It won't hurt to have it checked out - any drastic change in a mole is cause for concern.

You should get it checked out. When moles start to change color or grow in size, it could be because of an underlying problem. I suggest you make the appt.

Most moles are not dangerous. The only moles that are of medical concern are those that look different than other existing moles or those that first appear after age 20. If you notice changes in a mole's color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist (skin doctor) evaluate it. You also should have moles checked if they bleed, ooze, itch, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.

Examine your skin with a mirror or ask someone to help you. Pay special attention to areas of your skin that are often exposed to the sun, such as the hands, arms, chest, neck, face, and ears.

If your moles do not change over time, there is little reason for concern. If you see any signs of change in an existing mole, if you have a new mole, or if you want a mole to be removed for cosmetic reasons, talk to your dermatologist.

One of the common recommendations is to have any changes to growths checked right away.

While sun exposure is a significant risk factor for skin cancer, lack of exposure does not preclude you from getting skin cancer.

Get it checked out by a doctor. If the mole is changing in color and size, I would definitely have it checked out..... I had one removed many years ago when it started to get bigger...

Absolutly.....when any mole makes such a dramatic change you should have a dermatologist check it before it leads to a possible serious problem.

Yes. There is the chance that this mole has turned malignant. Better to be safe than sorry.

Some moles are cancerous, try to consult a doctor.. I have a friend and she has a big mole on her face and as time goes by, little moles are starting to appear, so she consulted a doctor and she was informed that her mole is cancerous and needs to be removed.
