What does your A1C run?!

Question: What do your A1C's run? I've been diabetic since I was 8....I'm 22 now. Mine changes year to year, but mostly in control. I'm just curious what other's are running these days? (and i already know the statistics...ect about how it should be 6.0....I'm wanting to hear from actual diabetics who have their A1C's checked like me) thanks!

my most recent a1c was 8.3 i think. before that it was 7.9. i think my best one was 7.8, but i'm slowly getting my numbers back down. i've had a lot of stress and struggles these past few years which definitely don't make it easy to control blood sugars. my doctor keeps telling me as soon as my a1c is under 7 he can retire. lol.

I was diagnosed prediabetic last year, used zolid for month , My HbA1C was 6.4, after one year with complete life style change ,proper diet and exercise I have stopped diabetes medication and last month I got HbA1c and it was 5.5. My target is to reach 5 in the next test which I will take in June.

The most important contributor in lowering my HbA1C was the exercise ( Brisk walk) In the beginning I started to walk for 25 to 30 min , and now I walk about and hour , 2 hours before the bed time.

I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables (green vegetables like salad leaves they also helped me a lot)

My 2 year old daughter is a type 1 diabetic. Her last A1c was 9.0. It's not a great number, but she was recently diagnosed plus her doses of insulin are so small (because she's so small). So it's really hard to keep her sugars in range.

my father is a dibetic for the past 5years..we knew about the hba1c factor ,only 3 years back..he used to do the tests at times to see the levels..usually it will be greater than normal..like around 7..he s taking regular treatment now a days..he restricted the diet and follows the prescribed diet for dia..it runs sumwhere around 5 ,5.5 now ...

Mine was 5.6 after 7 years but I have been told 6 is ideal and below that increases the risks of hypos if you do a decent amount of strenuous exercise daily.

A HbA1C of 5 for instance means that if you have very little room for maneuver from the daily routine and is tant amount to chasing one's sugars so I am told.

Actually, anything under 7.0 is considered good, under 6.5 is considered very good. My last A1C was 6.5. When I was a kid, it was as high as 13! Over the last 15 years or so I've gotten a lot better, under 8.0 or better. My problem is that although my A1C looks good, there are many highs and lows mixed in there. I really struggle with my BG's, they are very erratic, despite my eating and exercising very consistently. Some of us are more fluctuating than others, apparently.

last week I went to my endo like I do every 3 months, and my A1C was 6.8!!! Yay! They said that I can get a pump since it was under 7!!!

Visit my blog site. My story as I have learned is not common.

My A1c is 6.2, which is the best it's ever been. The time before that it was 8.0 in December. I started on the paradigm real-time continuous glucose monitor in January and I think it has helped me become more aware of my blood sugars. I have had type 1 for 13 years.

last check was 5.7
