Yes, there is a good way to do this and while it may not work the first time, all it takes is concentration.
I'm not sure about the "meditation speeding up your heart beat" thing, but, focusing on your heartbeat during meditation will slow it down, if you specifically will it. It'll take a lot of focus, a bit of time, and maybe a few practice times. You'll get the hang of it, and a valuable skill - self control.
The mind controls the body, you control your mind.

Good luck =D

Edit: I felt like expanding on the process =D
Get comfy - sit up or lie down, if you're sure you won't fall asleep. Start by breathing normally, then, with each breath, take longer pauses between exhaling and inhaling. You'll want to reach the point where you honestly believe you cannot breath any more slowly, but get there gradually. While doing this, just simlpy focus on your intent, picture it in your head.

Lol you can't stop it you will die. I know how to slow it down.
Be calm, no stress, don't move much, do yoga(or in other words be lazy).

try meditation n yoga.

there is a posture named SAVASANA..
it says that when we r doing in the right way.gradually our heart will stop beating(but still alive... only for the time when we r doing).
search for it.. read some bookks

a gun?

too many sedatives?

too much alcohol?

a noose around your neck?

plenty of ways to stop your heart

Actually, meditation makes your heart beat faster, at least at the time. A lot of people are recommending it even though they've never tried it.

Avoid caffeine, smoking and stress.

sry... but this is not an answer to the question at hand... its to some other questions that were closed for answers and i have a really strong opinion about these... not contradicting what you believe

i think that we created god as an answer when we couldn't explain things, but with extensive research and the scientific field growing... we have begun to prove ourselves wrong and have no way to cover up for what we have created

also... the sperm thing, at first it made me laugh. then it made me think... i don't think that your exact theory is true, mostly cause i don't believe in god but i do think that we are not exactly just people... like your sims game theory (that is sort of what i think, though i don't think we are a video game) anyways i think you have really good insite, and its gay that people think you smoke pot, maybe you do... idk... but for them to assume that just because you have a different theory than them is not really right. perhaps they don't like it that your on to something...

stop being str8.

Yes, certainly there is. Here's a way you can actually observe and record the slowing-down of your pulse-rate, -and enjoy watching it as it happens!

Sit comfortably in a chair, in front of TV if you wish, with a good supply of your favourite alcoholic drink available. And a pen & paper. Pour yourself a drink, and before starting, record your pulse-rate as a base-point. -Then start drinking, quite normally, as you would of an evening's TV watching..... but record your pulse EVERY 10 Minutes. Because alcohol initially is a stimulant, it speeds up your cardiovascular system and your pulse will rise, but gradually (because increased blood-alcohol levels now switch to being a suppressant, instead of a stimulant) the pulse rate flattens out and then inexorably begins to fall.. and fall,.. and fall. You can plot this on graph paper if you want, and it's incredibly interesting and graphic. Of course, at which point you stop and call a halt to the test is up to you. But be aware of course that when you stop drinking ISN'T the same point at which you pulse stops falling! It will continue to fall and slow down for several hours before recovering. So beware!. It shows though, -seriously, how prolonged excessive drinking alcohol leads inevitably to eventual death, the heart simply slowing down until it (the heart itself) is receiving insufficient blood to maintain its own action, - and it ceases to pump.

Even more interesting (to a physicist) is to record your blood-pressures at the same time as you're measuring pulse-rates.

Now, that really does become interesting! And, if you subtract the diastolic (lower) pressure from the systolic (higher) pressure and multiply the resulting number (pulse pressure Pp) by pulse rate (N) what you get is "virtual cardiac output". If you plot this on your 10-minute interval graph you'll see how your heart initially speeds up and does more
work pumping round a greater flow. But then, as the alcohol takes its toll, your heart's output of blood falls and falls, and falls....

You may be bored out of your skull by this, but it's the first teetering step towards understanding how the human cardiovascular system really works -as opposed to how doctors THINK it works.

Better be careful what you ask for! When it stops, you'll be wishing for it to start and start fast. Dumbest question I have ever read to date.Be glad for the beats it means life.

People with conditions such as heart arrhythmia take medicine to normalize their heart rates. However, as a quick fix, my doctor told me that one way to slow down my heart rate when it starts racing is to submerge my entire forearm in very cold water. It has worked for me whenever I've tried it.

I hope you don't try anything more drastic. By the way, if you are simply curious what it feels like to have your heart rate stop altogether, I'll save you the trouble: when your heart stops altogether, even for a beat or two, it feels as if the core of your body has disappeared and you are falling from a very very great height. (this happened to me during a medical procedure in which they were trying to basically "reboot" my heart; it worked). It is definitely scary, and I sure as hell wouldn't try it at home.

I don't know why you'd want to do this, but I've done it naturally all my life. I have a partially repaired heart defect and have a more than normal awareness of my heart and it's rhythm. On those occasions when my heart races -- scarier for me than for most -- I learned as a young child to simply "STILL" it. It is exactly what it sounds like. It takes quiet, concentration and inner focus, but 9 times out of 10, it works and kept me off rhythm medications for many years. My method is specific to me, but I think anyone who wanted to learn this technique on their own could do it, if they approach it patiently.
