Herpes is a VIRAL infection. any virus that get into your body stays for EVER. the differrence is when you will or will not have outbreaks. If it is Herpes Simplex, you can use topical cream or ointment from a local pharmacy, if it is Genital Herpes you need to see a doctor very very soon. If it lingers too long, lasting damages could result.
