Vaccines for Egypt not required but recommended???!

Question: According to the Egyptian embassy, there are no required vaccines for Egypt, however it is recommended to get vaccinated against the Yellow Fever, Hep A and Hep B before leaving.

I am DEATHLY afraid of vaccines so if the chances of me getting sick are rather low I would prefer not getting the Yellow Fever shot.

Just how likely is it to get Yellow Fever in Egypt? (I think I was vaccinated against Hep A & B when I was a kid).

Instead of checking with the Egyptian embassy you should check with the CDC -- it is your definative answer on whether or not you need vaccinations. It will also give you information on the number of yellow fever cases in Egypt.

You absolutely HAVE to check to make sure you had Hep A and B. You need both of those as those are somewhat easy to catch and can cause a lot of problems (if you get Hep B you will always have it).

PS -- checked with CDC --- you will need to get Typhoid, Hep A, Hep B, a Polio booster. You will ONLY need Yellow Fever if you are coming from a country that has a lot of yellow fever.

Still - check out their website - it gives lots of great information on traveling and protecting yourself from other diseases that are present there.

take it from a marine... i have spent months in egypt and the rest of africa.... this is an austere environment and sanitation is poor... and you will be stuck there until well if you get something.... get your vaccines.... i have had 11 this week no lie...

i know where your comming from. The biggest thing you need to remember is that *if* you do get yellow fever or hip A or B, then your going to get very very sick, be stabbed with wayyyy more injections and be charged a fortune to get it treated. It's a safer bet to have an injection and not have to worry about the alternative.

Better take the vaccine. Which would you think is deathly: getting the shot or getting the disease? Don't take chances.
