Do you have a handicap plate?!

Question: Gina's diabetes is coupled by a humidity intolerence. That is to say, no matter what her BG is, humidity can make her bottom out quickly. She can't be outside on oppressive days, we have to have AC, etc.

We had a disaster crossing the Six Flags parking lot last year. Someone suggested a handicap plate. I'm trying to justify if we really need one. The actual reliance upon it would be few and far between.

If a lot of people have them, I'd be more inclined to move forward. If not, I'd tend to let it go. Do you have one for your diabetes? Why?

Disabled placards and plates are for people who need to be closer to the door for a medical reason. It sounds like your daughter needs one, you should go to your daughter's doctor and talk to him (or her) about it. They can write you a prescription for one. And if there are days where your daughter doesn't need to use it, then you just don't use it.

Don't worry about what other people are doing. It sounds like your daughter needs it, and that's what counts.

No, I don't have one. I carry glucose tablets and peanut butter crackers with me in case of low blood sugar....so should your friend. When you have diabetes, you need to be prepared for low blood sugar. I'm sure she can tell when she's starting to go low and could prevent it by eating a protein bar, granola bar, or peanut butter crackers. She should have something with good carbs in it with her all the time. The parking spaces are for the handicapped with mobility or breathing problems.

Balance the amount of medication taken with the food eaten.
