How does a person with type 2 diabetes whose body ignores insulin deal with it?!

Question: I know that a person who does not produce enough insulin can get shots or take some kind of medication. What about people whose bodies ignore insulin? Do they take a certain kind of medication to make their bodies respond to insulin?

Metphormin, the insulin pill is used for type 2 diabetes. Because in type 2 diabetes (and insulin resistence) the body produces insulin it needs but, on the cellular level however, our bodies tell us we've recieved the appropriate amount of insulin too early. Thus we have generally high blood sugar and excessive abdominal fat (our body tells itself we need the excess fat for survival). So, Metphormin is given with the idea of adding excess insulin into the blood stream to override our body's mechanisms (which are failing us). It doesn't solve the problem, only manages it. The only way successfully reverse these issue (to some degree depending on personal situation) is thorugh showing a consciousness about one's diet and excerise regimen.

Some are insulin resistant. Others have bodies that misuse it. There are medications for all the reasons. And yes there is a medication that will help your body respond better to insulin.

There are a number of approaches to type 2 diabetes. Taking something that helps produce more insulin is one way and taking something that helps the insulin get in the cells is another. Weight loss with diet control and exercise is the best natural way to treat this and should be included in any treatment plan.

My husband stayed on Humulin 70/30 for many years. The doctor told him his body was simply not recognizing this insulin. In other words his body had become immuned.

His doctor changed him to: NovoLog insulin at meals and Levemir at bedtime. He also changed his diet. He is doing well with new insulin.
