I also suffer from severe eczema, and have for 30+years. There's no big secret in helping us sleep better. All the advice given below is excellent, but unfortunately not real effective. The moisturizers help somewhat along with the different types of hydrocortizone creams out there. And keep cool while you sleep, helps too. I had a dr. tell me to sleep in the buff. One thing I've found that helps is attarax, which is a prescription will to help with allergic reactions. It helps to control more of the itch, but doesn't take it all away. If a prescription isn't an alternative, try benadryl it works the same way. But I would suggest going to see a dermatologist. They're coming up with new treatments for us that suffer. Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis Missouri is testing a series of shots to basically get rid of eczema, but it only works if you continue to do the up-keep on the shots. But this is along way from FDA approved.
Keep your chin, they'll find something for us. Try the Benadryl about an hour before you go to bed, you might need to adjust the dosage or the time depending on how your body handles it.

have you seen a dermatologist? my 2 year old daughter has eczema all over her legs and we took her to see a dermatologist and they gave her a really strong ointment that helps to clear it up and stop her from itching throughout the night. you should also get 100% cotton sheets and pjs as it will allow your skin to breathe...sleep with a fan close to you as well...and maybe the hammock might be a good idea, although I dont think they would be very comfortable and could cause back problems...the best thing that I can think of is to talk to a dermatologist and explain what is going on...

Moisturize before going to bed. Use Vaseline, Cetaphil, Vanicream or Eucerin. Eucerin makes an anti-itch lotion and creme that may also be helpful for trouble spots.
You may want to invest in a mattress cover and pillow covers that keep dust mites contained. There are several online vendors selling these.
Your doctor may be able to prescribe medication to alleviate your symptoms.

I heartily recommend using herbal treatment like Zenmed Eczema and Dermatitis Solution

Very effective.

Try the natural eczema product here- it worked very well for my daughter - they have different strenghts and samples to check what works.

heredity and genetics play a vital role in passing eczema from one generation to another. it may appear at some point in your lives especially when the immune system is low.

to avoid eczema flare ups there are lot of things to consider like:

* keeping fingernails trimmed
* using an all natural moisturizer throughout the day
* hydrating the skin by drinking loads of water
* avoiding foods that are processed and that have preservatives
* use natural fabrics that are soft
* avoid tight, rough and scratchy clothes
* do not sweat it, avoid activities that makes you sweat
* avoid temperatures that are extremely hot and cold
* avoid drastic change of weather
* try not to scratch the infected area
* watch and check out diet
