If you had a hereditary genetic disorder, would you have children?!

Question: or would you rather adopt. why?

Answers: or would you rather adopt. why?

I would absolutely adopt. I think it's extremely selfish to even entertain the possibility of passing down a genetic disorder to an innocent child, when there are so many healthy children who need parents.

It depends how severe the genetic disorder was and how likely it would be to pass on. If it was severe or really likely to pass on I would consider adoption instead.

I would not have kids and I would not adopt (why take on a kid that might have problems that I don't know about).

It depends on what it is!~ better the devil we know than the devil we don't know.

If it was something not too serious or life-threatening or physically limiting such as heterochromia, I'd proceed with pregancy. If it's something like schizophrenia or cystic fibrosis then no.

Maybe it sounds insensitive but it's also extremely expensive and caring for a debilitated person is very intensive. Some of my relatives require life-long personal care and it's put their caretakers out of work and into welfare.

I'd opt for adoption though. I"m not narcissistic enough that I feel some deliberate need to pass on my seed, especially if I know it is seriously flawed.

It depends on what i have you should talk to your doctor about this sort of stuff you need all the information you can get before you make such a big descision, if you want to discuss this futher email me

I would try to have my own first. Not all genetic disorders will be passed down. I would take prenatal vitamines, stay healthy, get an amunocintesis (SP?) done at the hospital and pray that my child is healthy. No matter what, that child is a part of you so he/she will be loved unconditionally.
