When is it time to go to an emergency room for allergy?!

Question: I have had an unknown allergy since July. For the last two days or so my lips have been burning and stinging. Benedryl does not help and I have been missing class because of it. I can breathe just fine, and have an epinephrine pen just in case. Do I just let it take it's course? Should I go on like this? Can anything serious come from repeat allergic reactions? I do not have a doctor. Thank you

If you have an EpiPen, then there isn't anything more that an ER visit can do for you. What would be much more beneficial would be to visit an allergist as soon as possible and find out what you are allergic to, and you can then figure out how best to avoid the allergen or how best to treat the allergy. Repeat allergic reactions tend to get progressively worse, but not always, and the progression sometimes takes years.

You need to find a family doctor/general practitioner. This is not something for the emergency room. You should seek emergency care if you develope shortness of breath, or swelling of the esophagus. If you have an epi pen, you obviously have seen someone for allergies, schedule and appointment and deal with this issue.

now.
