Is anyone with fibromyalgia taking Gabapentin, is it working, any side effects?!

What is gabapentin? My mom has fibro and I never heard of that. Is it new and is it some prescription medication? I have a friend with fibro and she never mentioned this in what she takes for it either. If this is new is it available everywhere? I would be leary of something that isn't well tested yet though.
IF it is approved and low of side effects maybe I can recommend that they try this as a new way to maybe treat it.
It's way too powerful and potentially dangerous for this diagnosis.
gabapentin is an anit sezure drugalso used for nervouse system pain and Fibromyalgia as it is a disorder of teh central nervous susytem
tried it-did nothing for me-didn't notice any side effects-
It is supposed to be similar to Lyrica-but more potent...
