Pregnant and just diagnosed with asthma?!

Question: I'm 24 weeks pregnant and just spent 3 days in the hospital to find out I have asthma. I am kinda freaked out. Has anyone else ever experienced this. If I don't use the inhalor, I cough until I throw up. It is also zapping my strength and keeping me up all night. Please help.

Your pregnacy is going to add alot of extra weight to your body. This will make it that much harder to breath because everything is restricted. The best advice I can give you is keep your activity level to a minimum, if you are going to be walking then keep your inhailer with you at all times. Take regular breaks BEFORE you feel ill, and try to keep someone with you if you feel unsafe. Keep in mind that being scared, agitated, upset exc. will ALL affect your breathing. Your airways will constrict, making breathing that much harder. Just try to stay calm, and take SLOW, DEEP breaths. Close your eyes if you have to, but RELAX this will lower your stress level, help your air intake, and be better for your new baby. Congratulations on your pregnacy, and Good Luck with your Asthma. Hope this helps.

I have had asthma since I was six, but I mostly get it in the countryside (all the pollen). Whenever you get bad just use the inhaler and it will open up your wind pipes. It isn't that bad.

You should also if you are having trouble at night.. make sure you don't have feather pillows, and covers! Those are lethal! I went to a friend's house, and in the end I just sat in a chair for the whole night attempting to breathe.

Ive been told that cutting out dairy products can get rid of asthma symptoms.
