Lupus and SSD?!

Question: I have been dx with lupus after much testing. I have not been able to work for the past 4 months and according to my doctor it may take up to a year for me start feeling better. Does anyone, who has lupus, have experience with recieving ssd/ssi. I dont know if any of this info is helpful but......I am 24 and do not have a ten year work history, before getting sick I work for a little over a year for a company making 36,000/year. I am living at home because I was unable to afford my rent due to not working, and my parents are having a difficult time supporting me. Does ssd/ssi take any of this in to account. Is lupus on there list of disabilities?

YES!
I have fibro, and lupus symptoms are VERY similar to this..My brother has it and lives like me..in HORRIBLE pain~!
Get you a lawyer that dont charge UNTIL you win! There are many many of them around! It didnt take my case long at all

if it has be come disabling to you then prob so

Absolutely. Lupus can be considered a disability. As long as your doctor is willing to sign the paperwork that you cannot maintain employment due to your Lupus then you are covered. The ten year work history isn't important as they're just looking to base your payments. You'll be able to collect without much trouble.

Hopefully you'll recover before a year as once Lupus flares are controlled by medications they are usually managable. Just keep in constant contact with your doctor and follow his/her advice to the letter.

My wife just came off disability from a prolonged Lupus flare and hospitilization. She is doing much better now and is working again. I wish you the best.
