Is it possible to pass chlamydia back and forth for 12 years and not know it?!

Question: My wife and I have been married for 12 years. I was a virgin when we married and have not ever had an STD before in my life or ever been with another partner. Now, 12 years later, we have been having some marriage troubles. My wife quit going to church, took off her garments, started up smoking and drinking and going out to bars and clubs with her "girlfriends". About a month ago, I started to get burning urination and discharge from my penis. I went to my doctor and told him about the symptoms and my situation in the marriage. He decided I should be tested for STDs. I tested positive for Chlamydia. I researched this disease extensively, and all conclusions tell me that my wife has strayed in fidelity. However, she totally denies it and says she is just as curious how I got the disease as I am. Is it possible that we could have had this disease for 12 years and passed it back and forth and just now developed symptoms serious enough to get tested and come up positive? Is she lying?

It is possible, but not likely. If this had been the case, you would both probably have been carriers with no symptoms. Since you are all the sudden having symptoms, it is most likey something newly contracted. Also, has she not been getting annual paps? This should have been found in her annual paps. If you have children, it would have been detected during those for sure.

she could be telling the truth as a woman can carry it for more than 7 years and show no signs. so he may not of cheated on you. try getting some family councling together.

Realistically, no, it is not likely that you have both had it for 12 years. If she has had regular pelvic exams, a doctor would most likely would have seen a discharge or something wrong.
I believe that your conclusions are correct if your wife has all of a sudden taken to spending her nights away from the home.

Well you will never know unless you both
got check before you guys have ever had sex
