You can treat yourself to part of a candy bar. There are a lot of "diabetic" foods out there. You must read the labels. Just because they call it "diabetic" does not mean it's good for a diabetics diet. When food is labeled this way, it means they changed something, could be the salt content, the caloric content, but it does always mean it is lower in sugar and carbs. There are lots of sugar free and fat free stuff, but again, you have to look at the label for carb content. Make sure it's not too much.

honestly, i eat watever i want as long as i give insulin for it... i have type 1

I eat whatever i want too(type 1) but i would suggest getting some of those tiny candy bars and only letting yourself have one like once or twice a week. And you can make your own cookies with splenda and maby some low fat butter stuff that might help a little.

I have type one diabetes and take daily insulin injections. I actually take doses of Novolog before I eat anything (the dosage amount depends upon the amount of carbohydrates in a given food item). So I can treat myself, just so long as I take insulin to off set the carbohydrates in said treat.

It sounds like you might be type two, so I would say consult your doctor before you attempt sweet snacks as it may set your blood sugar off balance. Also it doesn't matter if a treat is sugar free/low sugar/low fat/etc - what matters is the amount of carbohydrates. Sugar free isn't necessarily going to be better for you then something with sugar in it. But again, ask your doctor for a list of approved snacks just to be on the safe side. :)
