Can you hurt yourself by cutting off a big skin tag with sterilized scissors?!

Question: I don't know about cutting them off. I use a wooden match. I burn the match, blow it out, & then touch to the tag holding it there as long as I can. I then wipe the tag away & put antibionic on it til it heals.

I asked my dermatologist this same question. I was told NO you can't if you are very careful. But, he did say it would sting and bleed like a stuck pig. His words. My brother does it all the time only he uses toe nail clippers. Good Luck.

Well, it would hurt and bleed like CRAZY (they are full of blood vessels), but no permanent harm would be likely. Just leave it though. They are harmless.

well it'll sting but it won't cause permanent damage if that's what your asking. It's a decent way to remove them but I found that using Compound W wart freezing kit that you can get at any grocery store works wonders for skin tags

Yes. And you will get some serious bleeding. Go to see a doctor and they will cauterize it or freeze it off. No big deal and painless(except for the numbing shot)

Just go to the doc, if you don't want scarring.

A skin tag is a colorless protrusion with a narrow base. Generally these can be clipped off as you've mentioned with a minimum of pain and basically no healing time. Once you start the cut, finish it quickly. Apply antibiotic ointment and a bandaid for a day, then you're good to go and tagless!

Yes!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

If you haven't done it yet, a better home method is to tie a piece of thread around the base of the skin tag. You might need someone to help you with that. Tie it as tightly as possible, then put a secure knot in the thread. This will cut the blood circulation to the tag. It dies and falls off with no bleeding at all after a few days.

To be perfectly honest... When you go to a doctor to have a skin tag removed, all they do is cut it off. You need to apply pressure to the site for a few minutes to stop the bleeding. Then cover it with Bacitracin, or Neosporin ointment.

Another thing to consider is one of those 'freeze off' wart removers. Just be careful not to get any on the surrounding skin. Let the swabs that come with it get really saturated. Then hold it to the tag for as long as you can tolerate. Leave the tag be after that. It will fall off after a couple of days.

SICK!!
....thats some hannibal lecter ****

well i got one removed that was on my arm. it was really disgusting so i got it removed. and if you do cut it off with scissors it might grow back depending on the type of skin tag. call your dermatologist and ask to get it removed. it didnt cost a dime for me because of insurance. you might want to check out insurance. if could leave a nasty scar if you do it this way to.
