Fibromyalgia?!
Question: My doctors are thinking I have this syndrome. However I can not get into a specialist until July 23. My question is how do I deal with this pain and fatigue Im feeling? Ibuprofin or narcotics are not working. Its starting to take a toll on my life. So if you have a suggestion, please tell me so I can try it. Im beginning to get desperate. Thanks

The neuro drugs tend to help better as FMS is nelived to be a diaorder of teh central nervous system
anti seizure/nerve pain drugs such as neurontin have helped some people
antidepressants in the tricyclic or SSRI/SSNRI family
Lyrica which is a new anti seizure/antinerve pain
The pain meds might work when used in conjunction with the neuro drug
once the neuro system is regulated-it may be able to process the pain meds-that is what worked for me (somewhat anyway)
Nutriton helps some people who may have FMS-I got worse while eating healthy/taking homeopathic supplements-
I am skeptical of people who swear it is a cure-they may not have actually had fibromyalgia--or the areas of their brain that were disordered were helped by nutrition-it will not help all areas of the brain/chemicals as well
I have 100 tips for coping with fibromyalgia at http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm
I was diagnosed in 1982. My story is at http://www.fms-help.com/fibro.htm
To learn more about this disorder, go to my homepage at http://www.fms-help.com and take a look at the links in the yellow box.
I also write a newsletter (since 1996). You can subscribe on my site. It's free. I get so much good info sent in by other readers with fibro. Glad to share it.
Ask your primary doctor about Lyrica (pregabalin). It's a nonnarcotic pill that's the only FDA approved treatment for the pain of fibro.
My doctors are telling me that i have to exercise at least some, short walks, just things that i need to do even though i don't feel like it.I too am having a hard time with this.
