Question: My hubby has had two swollen feet for the past month. I finally "battled" him in to going and seeing our doctor next week, whom is wonderful. Any way, it is not painful for him just very swollen, and his big toe is super red and icky looking

Gout is a kind of arthritis that can cause an attack of sudden burning pain, stiffness, and swelling in a joint, usually a big toe. It occurs when there is too much Uric Acid in the blood. These attacks can happen over and over unless gout is treated. Over time, it can harm joints, tendons, and other tissues. Gout is most common in men. (WebMD)

My husband gets gout now and again...and he is not fat. He takes Colchicine to treat it. It's just something that some people are more susceptible to getting. In his case, his foot gets red and shiny looking and he says it's horribly painful. But if you're husband isn't in any pain, then lucky him!

*who is wonderful

and no idea, all i know is that some president named Taft had gout and he was fat. I learned this in history class.

NO WAY!!! GOUT....IS VERY,VERY PAINFUL...U CANT EVEN MOVE THE AREA...sorry to say dont think its gout almost 99percent positive..GOODLUCK

I was just studying about Gout in my Pathology course in college. From what I know it can cause pain over time. Uric crystals can actually form within the joints and cause arthritic feelings of pain and discomfort. Also it can cause the formation of kidney stones.
