Changes in brown mole?!

Question: I have had a minutely raised brown mole on my left shoulder my entire life. About 4 years ago when I was 19, I noticed a black dot on the upper edge of it but thought nothing about it. Now it is 2 mm across, the brown color is almost completely gone, the black dot still remains about the same size in the same area but the surface area around the colors is a fleshy tone. It is raised but not so much that it rubs against my clothing and irritates me. It doesn't bleed, scab, itch, or slough and does not cause me any pain whatsoever. It doesn't progressively grow either, it is more stasis. [Knock on Wood] I am in nursing school and I seem to be getting paranoid about everything these days but how likely is this to be skin cancer?? Have I condemned myself by waiting to have this looked at?? :(

Two things are disturbing about this question.

The first is that you have not had this looked at.

The second is that you are a nursing student and you have not had this looked at.

And I think you know the answer to this question but let me say it for you...Have it looked at, it is probably NOT a problem, as most "suspicious" looking blemishes and moles are not, but the longer you wait the longer you are without your peace of mind.

Secondly, most students start diagnosing themselves, so you are normal and you will "outgrow" the tendency.

Good luck,
Have it checked out,
and
Good luck in your studies.

Peace.

It probably isn't cancerous now, but I would have it removed to prevent it from turning cancerous later in life. Moles that change shape, color, or size are baddies and should be removed.

I'd get a doctor to look at it right away. Better safe than sorry.

Any change in the color, size, shape or a mole should cause concern. Go see a dermatologist. Good Luck!

do you go out in the sun a lot and not use sunscreen?
you should probably get a dermatologist to look at it. I've been to one many times and it's calming to know that there is nothing wrong with a freckle or mole.

Since you're concerned, have a dermatologist look at it. No one can give you a concrete answer without first having a look. Good luck!

I would say go to the doctor to be sure it is nothing bad it is always good to be sure I hope you get better i think i should say

I think you should pay a visit to the doc!

have it removed. chsngesd could spell danger
