How long is a course of Hep B vaccinations?!

Question: I heard it's 3 shots and a test over 3 months, but I also heard 6? What does it really consist of?

There is a fast track which is 3 injections at monthly intervals. The standard regime is zero, one month then 6 months. fewer patients who use the fast track forget to get all 3 jabs.

That's how hepa b vaccination is. i had my third shot three months after my second shot which was a month after my first shot. they do that because hepa b has a 10% chance of recurring and sometimes the body just wont produce antibodies right away so doctors would give you several shots to make sure your body responds.

i had a friend who tested negative for anti-HBs though he had already his 2nd shot. but he tested positive for the antibodies a month after his third shot

Yes, although you don't have to get your booster (the second and third shots) exactly a month apart. I don't think I got my 3rd hep B booster until about 6 months after my second. And I didn't get a test at all, so I don't know how that goes.

A series of 3 to 4 injections is usually used over a 6- to 12-month period. Your doctor will give you a vaccination schedule, which must be followed closely for best effectiveness. If you have an infection with fever at the time a vaccination is scheduled, your doctor may choose to delay the injection until you are better. THis is what i found on it on webmd. The test is usually done 3-6 months after the last shot and is a test to make sure you have the antibodys in your system.

It's 3 shots over 3 months and then you are covered for 5 years if the course was successful. It is not alway's successful and then a different type of vaccine would have to be used.

There are everal types of Hep B vaccines. Different type has different recommended course period. The common one is o-month/1-month/6-month.
