Human epilepsy vs dog epilepsy (bear with me!)?!

Question: Sorry if this seems an odd question, but I'm hoping someone can help speak for my Black Lab! He has epilepsy (common in labs) He has 4 or 5 seizures a year. When he starts a seizure he literally holds his head in his paws. He hangs on to it tight like he feels it's going to explode or fall off! Question is, to those with seizures.... what does your head feel like during a seizure, can you shed some light on why he holds his head so tight? Also, for 24/48 hours after a seizure he seems totally wiped out.. Is that typical? Thanks for any help!

As a person with epilepsy, I don't know if my head hurts during the seizure, but afterwards I get an incredible migraine, on occasion I get a headache before, and want to sleep for the rest of the day. Seizures wipe you out more than a good workout because not only does it affect you physically but also mentally. It is like getting zapped by hi-voltage current. Animals are very intuned to their body. He probably holds his head as a matter of security (makes him feel safe)

well my dog has epilepsy too and the reason your dog may hold his head is probably because of something to do with the brain. a seizure has to do with abnomal electric activity in the brain, surging through the body so your dog probably mighttt feel like his head is going to explode.

I have had epilepsy all of my life and yes it sound the same. I am very tired the day that I have the seizure and the day after that. My head feels heavy and yes it is tight and I feel like I am going to vomit but I don't so if that has something to do with it also. The 24/48 hours later thing with a do being lazy is usual though all they do is lay around and get table scraps. Spoiled brat. I hope that helps.
