What happened to my dog?!

Question: My black labrador Charlie had a very aggressive mast cell tumour removed, after the area had clear margins, healing took longer because he contracted an e-coli bug & kennel cough whilst in hospital. We got him home 3 weeks ago, past 3 days he went downhill,he had been sick 3 times since being home, vet told us his stomach lining was damaged because of all the medication he was on,took him up to hospital on Thursday, the vet there found a large lump in his abdomen, after scanning was found to be another tumour plus the original tumour had regrown,we had no choice but to put Charlie to sleep yesterday, because he was up all Friday night in pain and there was no hope for him,the pain we're now suffering is unbelievable,he was only 8 years old,we cant understand why this wasn't noticed sooner, surely him being sick was a sign of the tumour in his abdomen, just so upset and confused.

Sorry to hear about Charlie. Sounds like he had a very aggressive cancer. May he rest in peace.
I know you have lots of questions but perhaps it would be best to speak with your vet? When we loose anyone dear to us it hurts and we have to go through the stages of grieving.
I am sure he knew he was loved and cherished in his last days.
If the original tumour had regrown so rapidly and the digestive problems were fairly new I can only assume that the cancer was so aggressive that there was little that could be done and you certainly did all you could.
My thoughts are with you.
