My 6 month old has an EXTREMELY bad cough and I don't know whats wrong.?!

Question: He was exposed to RSV, So I took him to the Dr and the hospital and they told me at the Dr his lungs were clear, and at the hospital they told me there was a little congestion but not much. They decided to treat him for RSV (Even though they didn't do the test) with an Inhaler...That didn't help, so we tried a nebulizer (albuterol for both) and that didn't help. So they prescribed Ceron (a decongestant) and this didnt help either. Now the Dr is blowing me off saying they have tried everything. However I take this very seriously, my son is coughing to the point that he throws up, and turns purple and blue because he can't breathe. He was six weeks premature and already is suseptable to breathing issues. So i am very concerned about this. Other than the cough he has no other symptoms other than some diarrhea and a small lack of appetite. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be, what I could do or any advice.Other than to see Dr- none of the 4 Dr's hes seen can help us.

It sounds like a reaction or allergy to either the medications or even the virus.

RSV can cause pneumonia so it you see any blood, you must call the emergency services.

If your child is turning purple/blue because he can't breathe you should be going to the ER.

**EDIT**
No car?
Call 9-1-1.
Seriously if you preemie baby is coughing so bad that it is unable to breathe, you have a SERIOUS problem.

You need to get your baby to an ER as soon as possible.

I agree with Meggy Jo, a trip to the ER is in order. Perhaps try a different ER so you see different doctors. If there is a "children's hospital" near you, that would be best. Keep pushing until they find something that helps him. Poor baby! My heart is with you.
