Answers: Which does not occur during exercise?

a - heart rate increases

b - stroke volume increases

c - blood pressure increases

d - blood becomes slightly more acidic

e- blood flow increases to kidneys, liver and stomach.

E does not occur. During exercise blood flow is diverted to working muscles, not body functions that can wait til later, such as digestion.

FYI: Blood does become acidic, because of lactic acid from working muscles.

Sorry about the incorrectness, almost never happens.....

Blood pressure increases, so does pulse, this causes increased stroke volume, and the increase BP causes increase flow to organs. Has no effect on pH-lacic acid causes this increase in pH

Go with B, since prolonged exercise causes increased stroke volume.

I'm enjoying your homework....

Prolonged aerobic exercise training may also increase stroke volume, which frequently results in a lower (resting) heart rate. Reduced heart rate prolongs ventricular diastole (filling), increasing end-diastolic volume, and ultimately allowing more blood to be ejected.

a. The heart rate increases during exercise.

c. Blood pressure does increase as the heart works harder during exercise.

d. Blood does become slightly more acidic as your body is getting less oxygen (this is why you being to feel the "burn").

e. As the heart works harder to pump blood through your system, it would only make sense that there is increased blood flow to the kidneys, liver and stomach.

So that only leaves B as the only thing that would not happen during exercise.

UPDATE: w2r65 has made a good point. I would go with his answer.

B is the right answer. Good luck!

C.

Exercise is a natural vasodilator. Blood pressure should actually decrease during exercise. People that become hypertensive with exercise is an indication of hypertension later in life.
