If a woman is hep c active while she's pregnant, will the child be born with!

Question: the risk to have a child who acquires hcv infection at birth is about the same risk as it is to have sexual intercourse. (about .06%).

it was once thought c-sections would lessen the chance, but scientific research states either birth method can transmit the virus.

babies born to mothers who are hcv positive will have antibodies at birth. the baby does not need to be tested until 18 months which is the time period the mothers hcv antibodies wear off in the child. Any child who tests positive for hcv after 18 months of age is considered a chronic carrier.

i had two c-sections for different reasons (babies too big) and neither child has hcv infection they are now 14 and 17.

yes and no. it is possible that the child could be positive, but sometimes, they may luck out and just be a carrier of the disease. It really depends on genetics. Just pray and hope for the best

There is like an 8% chance if se has the child through natural birth and the chance ges down even lower if she has the child through a c section.
