What are the treatments for a uti?!

Question: UTI is one of the very few common infections that are best treated with an antibiotic. It is unfortunate that the cranberry juice myth refused to die, despite being disproven a year or so ago. The problem is that though many UTIs will go on their own, just with a high fluid intake, there is a risk of spread up the ureters to the kidneys, producing pyelonephritis. This can produce permanent kidney damage and occasionally patients can become septicaemic.

It you mean a urine infection I would suggest that it would be antibiotics being as it is an infection. You do need to get it treated becuase this can lead to a kidney infection.

Depends on the bacteria that's causing the infection. The most common antibiotic prescribed is bactrim. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic that tends to take care of most common causes of UTI.

Drink lots (LOTS) of water, stay away from sugar (feeds the bacteria), stay away from caffeine (irritant that flushes needed fluid from tissues, actually making it easier for the bacteria to invade the tissue) and don't have intercourse (introduces more irritants and possible infectants into the urethra).

Hope that helps.

To tide you over before getting a doctors appointment you can buy over the counter remedies such as Cystem, Cymelon or Cystipurin. These are all for Cystitis. If you have bicarbonate of soda in the house a small pinch of that in tepid water as a drink can also neutralise the acid in your urine. Hope this helps because its not a nice thing to have. Get well soon!

Antibiotics are the most common treatment, but drink alot of water and also cranberry juice is good to.
Hope you feel better soon!!

I have had many UTI'S for immediate relief until you can get to the doctor for some anitboitics go get some AZO over the counter to make the pain ease up. They will turn your pee orange but it will ease the pain until you get to the doctor. Drink lots of water and water and more water and keep off your feet dont stress urbody out more than it already is.

Antibiotics, drink cranberry juice in the meantime

you really want to see a doc i have had many uti's and didnt even know it and they all turned into severe kidney infections and they hurt i wouldnt wish a kidney intection on my worst enemy for some reason my body has no sign when i get uti's so every so often i have to go to the doc to make sure i don't have one you can try to prevent them in the future by drinking lots of water and drinking cranberry juice most people dont like it so there is also a cranberry pill you can take as well
