How can i tell if the lice eggs in my neice's hair are from an old infestati!

Question: She had lice over a month ago and she was treated and everything in the house was treated/washed. On Thursday the school called me and said I had to pick her up because they found eggs in her hair. I treated her hair again even though I didnt find any live bugs in her hair, i washed everything again and everyone in the house has been checked and noone has it. The nurse at school insists that it is a new infestation and not old eggs, but I dont believe her. Wouldnt the eggs have been close to teh scalp? These eggs were about an inch from the scalp. I think they were dead eggs that were missed. Is this possible?

Regardless, they must be treated as a new infestation. All nits MUST be removed for a delousing to be considered successful. But as a general rule, dead eggs are orangish in color vs live ones which are white. So if they were whiteish, they were alive!

any nits found are still an infestation. Every last nit must be picked out to rid of head lice. You should invest in a nit comb and some olive oil to get them out or they will hatch new lice.

They will continue to send her home if any nits are found in her hair as the chemicals kill lice not the nits....gotta pick em out! If two weeks after treatment you are finding nits again..then defo new infestation. It is a total pain in butt.
