You can auto-infect yourself in other areas... For example my sister has both cold sores on her mouth AND herpes in her EYE from scratching cold sores & then her eye immediately afterwards....The face type is TYPE ONE

If two people have herpes but didn't give it to each other...it can recurr in 2 places instead of the usual ONE on the genitals. The genital type is TYPE 2
This happened to me... I have MY herpes on my left side vaginal lip (from my x-husband) and herpes from my new man to the right of my vagina...
but i didn't give him herpes - it was pre-existing....

BUT it's unlikely to be double infected in the genitals if it's your own herpes - because my x-husband who gave me herpes - never double infected me & we had sex during outbreaks because we both had it anyways - and it never changed it...BUT it did cause us to both have an outbreak almost all of the time....
I'm not sure if there are different strains of Type 2 or not - but if it's already in one spot - it seems to stay there....but a second Type 2 virus unrelated to your existing virus has popped up in a different spot.

Herpes virus can be transferred from oral to genital, genital to oral, anal to genital, ect.

If you have it, that entire region is infected and depending on the viral stage, can be contagious/infectious.

If the other guy has it I wouldnt worry too much about it. Herpes spreads though the nerves and through contact, so if you touch a part that has herpes you can get it on your

eyes
nose
mouth
gentials
thighs
buttocks
hands
wrists

Never have sex with someone when either of you are itchy or have sores as it increases the chance that you will acquire aids. Having Herpes puts you at twice the risk than the average person.

When herpes enters the skin upon first contact it can cause an immediate outbreak (or not). It then travels up the nerve endings in the genital area and hangs out until it gets triggered again.

When it is triggered it can travel down the nerve braches towards the skin, but can take a variety of different paths....so technically you could have an outbreak anywhere in the boxer short area (where these nerves cover). One of two things happens when the virus travels towards the skin
1)it causes an outbreak and causes viruses to be "shed" through the skin
2)it doesn't cause a noticeable outbreak but still results in viruses being "shed"....which is why you can transmit the virus without having an "outbreak"

So, it is possible for the herpes to "spread" but not necessarily as a result of external action. If you have sex with a guy who has it already it is possible that you could infect other areas of his penis....condoms would greatly reduce, but not eliminate the risk.
